Dragons – A Great Picture Book for Children by J F Danbury
The first post on my new website about picture books for children goes to J F Danbury for her charming book about Dragons, which she wrote and illustrated herself. Her excellent and amusing drawings are complemented by the light-hearted text which takes you inside the world of a dragon, as described by the rather dashing dragon himself, a young fellow by the name of Racso.
You can read a short preview of the book in downloadable ebook form here – Dragons Oscar’s Book (Book 1)
As we discover in this ‘ancient book of wisdom’, dragons have many powers, are accomplished artists, believe in the virtues of DIY, by and large like to be left alone, and from time to time are inclined to roast unwanted intruders. Some of them even have what the other dragons refer to as ‘imaginary friends’ i.e. humans that travel through worm holes to visit them!. Such artistic and inventive dragons are considered slightly odd by their elders and betters.
I found the book to be a delight to read from start to finish. If you have a KIndle it is very easy to download, and even if you don’t have a Kindle you can download it to your PC or tablet etc.
The book is the first in a series planned by J F Danbury around the themes of dragons, ghosts, medieval castles and other subjects that we kids find so fascinating! We look forward to seeing what the second book in the series has in store.
J F Danbury is a very talented artist and story-teller. She grew up in France, but has lived in the UK for a long time now, where she raised 1 boy, 2 cats and a dog, whilst working as a translator. As a child she had a passion for reading and drawing and according to those who knew her at the time had a very fertile imagination. She has had a number of children’s books published already in France and it is now her intention to make use of the freedom offered by Amazon, the Internet and the self-publishing revolution to write and illustrate the books she is passionate about in her own personal and quirky style, without the requirement of adhering to a specific format!
